The whip carrier worn by
Indiana Jones™ in Raiders was originally riveted to his belt and it was brown. It did
NOT have straps or strings. It was a snap-closure leather strap. In
later films, the holster was SEPARATE from the belt.

When used together, the two parts of the GLD Enterprises Custom Whip Holster
System make it a non-slip, two-component device
designed to keep the whip coiled and secure on the belt of the user with
little or no slippage or unrolling.
THIS HOLSTER WAS DESIGNED BY GERY L. DEER AND USED IN THE 2003 FILM "RUNDOWN"
To properly hold your whip on your belt,
without slippage, the system uses two components: The Holster and the Coil
Keeper
To configure the holster system properly,
put the handle and the coil keeper on opposite sides of the holster.
This holds the whip in tension and keeps the weight of the handle from
pulling the coil through the holster loop and unrolling the whip. You MUST
wrap the Coil Keeper TIGHTLY around the coiled whip.
Another advantage of this system is that
the whip may be removed from the holster without unrolling.
