Competition Whip Artistry Lessons
Our Competition Whip Artistry Lessons can help you identify and learn the tricks of the trade in whip contests.
There is no 'trick' to most competitions. They are based on your overall understanding of the whip and it's physical properties. People who are interested in learning the skills will have the upper hand.
When you're the best, there's always someone trying to bring you down.
You'll probably hear our studio being slammed by enthusiasts in the whip artistry community and that's ok with us. We have a proven track record of training and performance. Those who choose to speak negatively have never been at our studio nor do they have any knowledge of what we do here outside of rumors. We are a professional facility, fully insured and registered with a number of professional organizations including the World Stunt Association. If you want to know what people say who have been here and use our services ... CHECK OUR OUR TESTIMONIALS!!
Key Benefits to working with a certified whip artistry instructor:
Scheduling Private bullwhip lessons are available at The Whip Artistry Studio by appointment from 10AM - 8PM Monday through Thursday and from 10AM-3PM on Friday. Call or email to schedule your lesson.
Many hobbies are expensive and no one would think twice about getting a good piano teacher or firearms instructor. The average piano lesson costs $25 for 30 minutes. Whip lessons at The Whip Artistry Studio are slightly less expensive, depending on the course of study, and are far more exclusive. An experienced whip artist with a full-time facility is nearly non-existent. Many of our students and associates have gone on to win national awards and some are now professional performers earning a good living with the use of what they learned at our studio. Hotel accommodations, travel expenses, and other costs are the responsibility of the student. Equipment Needs
Whip You won't need a whip for the first session. We'll have you try a few different types and see what you're most comfortable using. But once you start your lessons, you will need your own whip. Like they say, if you don't use it, you'll lose it. We will help you determine what you need to get started, but we do have a basic recommendation for beginners. If you already have a whip, you must have it and all safety equipment approved by the instructor before training begins. Should you wish to use one of the instructor's whips during training sessions, they are available for a minor fee. Better equipment can lead to quicker success. Our instructors generally recommend a 6 to 8 foot Australian 12-plait, dual-bellied, kangaroo-hide whip. Click here to see our recommendation for a more professional whip from Joe Strain's "Northern Whip Co.". We also have recommendations for less-expensive cowhide models.
Safety If you follow all instructions it's unlikely you'll hit yourself with your whip, but it does happen as you learn new skills. All students are required to have some type of protective eyewear, long sleeved top, long pants, and closed-toed shoes. A wide-brimmed hat or hooded sweatshirt can be helpful as well but are not required. Inexpensive impact-resistant goggles are available for purchase at the studio.
Special Sessions In addition to weekly hourly classes and quarterly weekend sessions, The Whip Artistry Studio also offers less-expensive Saturday Whip Camps and Thursday Night Open Studio sessions. These events are often less than $10 per person for a couple of hours and offer students a chance to interact with other students, get help with problems, and take advantage of a fun learning experience. Check our Schedule page for more information. Our instructors also travel to provide whip artistry training anywhere in the country.
